Booth Canyon Orchard

Meet Stina Booth

Welcome to Booth Canyon Orchard

Located in the beautiful Methow Valley, Booth Canyon Orchard is a certified organic grower of apricots, raspberries, pears, and a wonderful variety of heirloom apples.

Growing Philosophy

“You can get an amazing amount of diversity from a small piece of land. I’m growing 25 varieties of apples and 10 varieties of pears on eight acres. Some of my apple varieties can be traced back to the Middle Ages.”

-- Stina Booth

Products Available

Apples, pears, and raspberries

Nurturing Nature

Stina is in the process of replacing her grass cover crop with a mixture of legumes and low perennials that will provide more nitrogen into the soil thus reducing the need for fertilizer. This strategy will also require less mowing and water, while providing improved habitat for beneficial insects.

Water Conservation

Water resources come at a premium in the Methow River Valley as water must be conserved for endangered native Steelhead Trout and Bull Trout. Stina has converted most of her orchard over to a micro-sprinkler system, and has replaced nozzles on her impact sprinkler system to achieve better water uniformity and further reduce water use.

Pest Management

The only problem pest for Booth Canyon Orchard is Coddling Moth. To control this pest Stina uses sanitation, cooperation with neighboring orchards, mating disruption (a no-spray technology), and applications of Coddling Moth specific viruses that have no impact on any other organisms.
