Cha New Life Garden

Meet Chue Cha

Welcome to Cha New Life Garden

Situated on the Snoqualmie river near Duvall, Cha New Life Garden strives to produce safe and nutritious food while caring for the soil and river. Chue Cha learned to farm in his native Laos and has continued to develop his skills at environmentally friendly, labor intensive farming.  Although Chue uses a small tractor and rototiller for tilling and planting, all weed control and crop harvesting is done by hand, a lot of work for a 21-acre farm.

Products Available

Beets, bok choy, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, chard, chinese broccoli, chinese greens, collard, corn, fava beans, flowers, garlic, green onions, lettuce, snap peas, snow peas, spinach, strawberries, and zucchini.

Growing Philosophy

“I learned to farm in my native country of Laos. Farming is hard work, but it is good to create new life and grow healthy food.”

--Chue Cha

Soil and Pest Management

Cha New Life uses certified organic inputs and manure from their chickens along with proper crop rotation to maintain healthy soil. Overall, insects are not a challenge except for their broccoli and cabbage crops where they have suffered some loss. Chue is interested in pursuing organic remedies as he has chosen not to spray insecticides.

Protecting Water Quality and Salmon Habitat

Cha New Life provides a 30 to 35-foot buffer between their crop rows and the one drainage ditch on their farm that empties into the Snoqualmie River. There are absolutely no farm inputs or eroded soil that enter this watercourse.
