Hmong Highland Garden

Meet Chong Hue Cha

Welcome to Hmong Highland Garden

Chong Hue Cha has been farming since he was 10 years old, growing up in the highlands of Laos. He, his mother, father, and brothers all worked together to raise the food they ate. Chong has chosen farming as a way to live. He and his wife Kayeng are pleased to bring their fresh flowers and vegetables to market.

Products

Beets, bok choy, broccoli, cilantro, cucumber, corn, dill, green onions, greens, lettuces, sweet yellow onions, parsley, Snap and Snow Peas, summer squash, and flowers.

Growing Philosophy

“I have been farming all of my life. In Laos, my family grew all our own food. It is good work to farm. It is work I know how to do.”

 --Chong Hue Cha

Keeping the Vegetables Healthy

Hmong Highland Garden does not use any commercial fertilizers or chemical-based sprays or pesticides on their vegetables. This practice of staying “chemical-free” is fairly consistent among the Hmong farming community.

Ensuring Water Quality For The Local Stream

Because Hmong Highland Garden uses low-impact farming methods, the potential for harmful run-off into the local stream is minimized. There is also a buffer between Chong’s and other growers’ crops provided by a road and streamside vegetation.
