Moua Garden

Meet Moua Vang and Jor Chang

Welcome to Moua Garden

This diversified small farm has two locations. Moua Garden grows beautiful flowers on two acres located in Woodinville, WA, and a variety of row crops on three acres near Snohomish, WA. Moua and Jor’s families have been farming for many generations and they have a deep commitment to the health of the land they farm.

Growing Philosophy

“I learned to farm from my mother. She never used sprays of chemicals and taught me to do the same.”

-- Moua Vang

Products

Flowers including Asters, Dahlias, Delphinium, Iris, Larkspur, Lupine, Poppies, Sun Flowers and Zinnias

Row crops including basil, beets, carrots, cilantro, sweet corn, cucumbers, green beans, green onions, kale, snap peas, sweet onions, and summer squash

Conservation as a Way of Life

Moua and Jor are of Hmong Laotian descent, and of a traditional farming culture that is exceptionally conservation oriented. They use no water other than rainfall for their flowers, and hand-carry water in 5-gallon buckets to water their row crops. Other than a hand rototiller, all cultivation is done by hand.

Using What the Land Provides

Other than using fertilizer for plant starts in their green house, Moua Garden uses what the land provides. They use no fertilizers on their flowers which, ensures that they don’t negatively impact the water quality of nearby Bear Creek. And the fertile soil of the Snohomish River flood plan requires no inputs, other than the crop stubble or cover crops they till back into the ground.

Pest Management

Moua Garden uses no chemical sprays on their vegetables or flowers. They do use slug bait for slug-control.
