Growing Philosophy

"I feel very good about helping to change the perspective of agriculture being the cause of the salmon problem, to agriculture being a vital part of the solution."

-- Dale Reiner

Sound Animal Husbandry

Dale raises breeding stock on to contract to Loomis Cattle Company of Okanogan County. His cattle range freely 12 months of the year and are protected from the elements by native plant windbreaks and tree cover. He vaccinates his cattle every two years and feeds no antibiotics, hormones, or manufactured feed.

Building Community

Dale serves as President of Qualco Energy Company, a non-profit corporation which is building a community-owned anaerobic digester to convert cow manure to electricity. He is also working on a local project to crop seed crops for bio-fuels.

Restoring and Preserving Salmon Habitat

Dale has committed 81 acres of his land into the Natural Resource Conservation Services' "Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program." This acreage provides a buffer that separates his cattle and crops from the Skykomish River and another small slough that dissects his land.

He has also worked on building system which will eventually create a natural barrier to prevent seasonal flooding onto his farm, giving the river course plenty of room (600 feet) to meander. This project was funded by the Washington State Conservation Commission and Dale’s personal funds.

Where to Buy

Christmas Trees are sold directly to the public on the farm.

Cattle are pre-sold as breeding stock to Loomis Cattle Comany in Loomis, WA.
