Sidhu Farms

Meet the Sidhu Family

Sidhu Farms

Sidhu Farms is a diversified farm with two locations including 31 acres of row crops and berries with the City of Puyallup, and 7 acres of row crops along the River Road in Pierce County. Chet, his brother, and seven children all work in this dynamic operation that serves eight farmers markets throughout the region.

Growing Philosophy

“I love to farm and am thankful for the opportunity to be here near the urban center where we can sell our produce. Farmers markets have been the key to our success and we are looking for more land to expand operations for new markets.”

--Chet Sidhu

Products

Blueberries (including certified organic), blackberries, raspberries, and strawberries. Plus more than 100 varieties of row crops including basil, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, celery, sweet corn, cucumbers, eggplant, greens, lettuce, sweet onions, peppers, summer and winter squash, and tomatoes.

Tapping In to New Innovations

Chet is a long-term and experienced farmer but is always looking to increase his knowledge. He accesses resources such as Auburn’s United Horticultural Supply and the WSU Small Farms Program in Puyallup to discover new and more effective ways to farm.

Water Conservation

Sidhu Farms uses drip irrigation for its 12-plus acres of berries, and low-broadcasting sprinklers for most of its row crops. Sweet corn is dry-farmed on the low-lying parcel next to the Puyallup River, where the soil stays moist enough to forgo watering.

Pest Management

Sidhu Farms is implementing strategies to reduce and even eliminate use of pesticides. Six acres of blueberries are certified organic. Chet is seeing the comparative health of these plants when observed next to his conventionally-grown blueberries, believes organic methods are producing better fruit, and require less watering and maintenance.

Being a Good Neighbor

Sidhu Farms is located within the city limits of Puyallup with many homes close by. Chet and his family take special care to be good neighbors and work hard to implement strategies to reduce noise and dust, and eliminate all other off-site impacts.
