Our Vision
Connecting Communities Through Sustainable Commerce & Caring for the Land
By Peter Goldmark, F&E Founder
Farming and the Environment is embarking on a bold vision. We aim to preserve & grow environmentally sustainable farming practices in Washington by expanding the access stewardship farms have to local markets. Our vision is to create vibrant and bustling community markets, where farmers and consumers share in the bounty of this great State buying and selling high quality farm products that have been grown with a reverence for the land.
In the near future, you will be able to walk into your locally owned grocery store and select from a growing number of sustainably grown, Washington products. By next summer, we aim to create new and expanded farmers markets focused on products grown by farmers who are good stewards of the land. And, in the coming years, our vision is to have a delivery system that can supply local restaurants and school cafeterias with sustainable foods. All along the way, Farming & the Environment will be sharing with you the personal stories of our farm families and the methods they use to nourish and protect the soil and water, promote diversity, care for animals, and provide habitat for wildlife.
We know that meaningful and lasting change happens when communities come to recognize and understand a common need and then pull together to achieve that common good. For Farming and the Environment, protecting rural landscapes and sustaining family farms is our common mission. We look forward to providing greater access to fresh and flavorful foods that have been grown in a way that enhances and sustains our farmlands.
