You Know Who They Are.

They're the farmer or rancher who chooses to steward the environment rather than manage it.  They work as nature's partner and are fully aware that just by doing their job, they are protecting the quality of the food and long-term health of Washington's fragile ecosystems.

They Deserve to be Recognized for Their Commitment.

  • Their commitment to that one extra, sometimes laborious, step in every process.
  • Their commitment to tirelessly educating our community about the value of sustainable growing practices.
  • Their commitment to sustaining the precious landscape we hold so dear in Washington State.

Farming and the Environment's Vim Wright Stewardship Award honors farmers and ranchers who choose to step up and take on the environmental responsibility associated with producing food. Uniting farmers and environmentalists in a unique and unprecedented way, the Vim Wright Stewardship Award honors those exemplary farmers and ranchers whose environmental stewardship practices are  sustaining our environment.

Named after the late Vim Wright, a tireless advocate for protecting Washington's environment and keeping family farms in business, the award publicly recognizes and financially rewards Washington state stewardship farmers.

Recognizing & Rewarding the Best of the Best.

Let Farming and the Environment, our sponsors, and the citizens of Washington honor someone you know who truly deserves the Vim Wright Stewardship Award.  The winner and two runners up will be publicly recognized in local and state wide media and at Farming & the Environment's annual Award Dinner.

The winner will receive a cash award of $2,500 and video created by Spokane Conservation District featuring them and their sustainable farming practices.  The first and second runner ups will receive $1,000 and $500 respectively.
